SARAH: How a Hockey Mom Turned the Political Establishment Upside Down
on September 10, 2008
Carol Stream, IL – In barely two weeks, Sarah Palin has become the candidate everyone’s talking about. Ever since Senator John McCain electrified the nation by tapping this relatively unknown Alaska governor as his running mate in the 2008 presidential election, the media, political pundits, and ordinary citizens have been intrigued by this history-making candidate. Author Kaylene Johnson tells Palin’s story in an original, definitive biography which has become this season’s most sought-after book.
Released in April 2008 by Epicenter Press, a regional publisher of nonfiction works about Alaska and its people, the book will now be shipping through Tyndale House Publishers. The trade paperback edition of SARAH: How a Hockey Mom Turned the Political Establishment Upside Down (ISBN 978-1-4143-3050-1) will begin shipping on September 10.
In SARAH, the first biography released of Governor Palin, author Kaylene Johnson draws upon personal interviews with Palin, her family, and other highly placed sources to explore Palin’s family life, her upbringing in a devout Christian home, her political rise, and how she went from being a long-shot candidate to—potentially—one of the world’s most powerful women and political figures. The book features 32 pages of family and political photos and contains an index and source notes. Tyndale will also provide a free online discussion guide designed to engage readers on the subject of faith and politics: http://www.faithandpoliticsdiscussionguide.com/.
“Tyndale House does not endorse political candidates or parties,” said Mark Taylor, president of Tyndale House Publishers. “But as a distinctively Christian publisher, we believe it is vital to promote clear thinking and thoughtful conversation about the intersection of faith and the public square. In choosing to distribute this Epicenter Press book about Sarah Palin, governor of Alaska, 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate, and professing Christian, and in providing an online discussion guide, we hope to stimulate both thought and discussion about the role of faith in politics.”
Doug Knox, senior vice president and publisher at Tyndale, said, “It’s wonderful to have a team of professionals who can turn around a major project like this virtually overnight. Tyndale’s first print run will be 250,000 copies, and orders are being accepted now. We’re delighted to be able to work with Epicenter Press to expand distribution of this informative resource.”
