11:30 pm – Manhattan
It was another long but productive day on the Tony Dungy Uncommon book tour. The day began leaving the hotel at 5:45 am to go to Good Day New York on the local NYC FOX affiliate. Coach Dungy also called into ESPN’s Mike & Mike in the Morning from a phone at the television studios.
After a short break we drove to the FOX News studios and Tony conducted a rather lengthy interview that was distributed to the nearly 700 radio affiliates on the FOX radio network. While we were there, Jessica Quinn was able to book Coach Dungy on Shepard Smith’s Studio B show for tomorrow afternoon.
Remarkably, we actually found time to eat lunch today. We were even joined by my sister, Lori Antolick, who is an attorney and had a hearing in Manhattan this morning.
Upon leaving lunch we went to a Barnes & Noble store in Tribeca for a book signing. It wasn’t a huge crowd but it was fairly steady. We had snow in the morning that turned to rain so it was a slushy, icky mess. A number of people called into the store have Tony sign books that they would pick up a later date.
Another book signing followed at Last Licks, an ice cream and memorabilia shop operated by Steiner Sports, in Manhattan. Tony’s attorney joined us for dinner before arriving back at the hotel at 11:00 pm.
We feel like the book is off to a solid start, with rankings this hour of 31 on Amazon and 20 on B&N.com. We were also informed that the New York Times is now tracking Uncommon for inclusion in its bestsellers list, which we will find out one week from today.
Thursday will be a big day with a pre-interview with the Letterman folks at 8:20, followed by a variety of interviews including Laura Ingraham, Michael Medved, and Rush Limbaugh. Later in the afternoon we are scheduled for Shepard Smith’s show on FOX, Late Show with David Letterman, and a show on the FOX business channel. We then fly to Tampa.
Time to return emails and try to get a few hours of sleep.
