Cool2Read Junior Author Contest Winners

cool

This summer at Tyndale we sponsored a Cool2Read Junior Author Contest to promote summer literacy. We wanted contestants to be creative and have fun (just like writing and reading is!) so we only had a few rules.

What a surprise we received!

Entries from young authors aged 7-17 poured in throughout the summer. The aspiring writers emailed us from Ontario on down to Arkansas. The stories were cute and cuddly and some were dark with some pretty deep messages. Each judge (we had 3 read each story in a category) who read entries commented about the great talent they read and how much fun they had reading (there’s that word again!).

After a few days of deliberating, we chose 3 winners (one in the 7-10 year-old group, one in the 11-13 year-old group and another in the 14-17 year-old group). The names, ages, and title of stories are listed. We decided not to publish the stories on Cool2Read.com. We have such a broad range of ages visiting our site, we didn’t want to expose little eyes to content for older teens. Tyndale Kids is all about giving kids fun and relevant content with a spiritual message…and we take our stewardship seriously. In a world filled with too much too soon, we feel strongly about keeping content age-appropriate.

Check out Cool2read.com to see the winners and much more, send us feedback, ask how we can visit your school, (perhaps you qualify for some free workshops by ACSI accredited author) and get some free stuff from us.

We hope your school year is filled with fun reading and creative writing…and many lessons in life as you grow closer to God.
