Tyndale House to Release The Official Chuck Norris Factbook

Tyndale House Publishers announces the November release of
The Official Chuck Norris Fact Book, a look at Chuck’s favorite Facts, from the man himself.

[Carol Stream, Ill.]—Tyndale House Publishers announced today that it will release The Official Chuck Norris Fact Book: 101 of Chuck’s Favorite Facts and Stories, written by Chuck Norris with Todd DuBord, in November. Chuck Norris Facts is a quirky, but extremely popular, Internet phenomenon that has entertained millions of fans from all over the globe. Now, for the first time ever, Chuck Norris gives fans not only his favorite Facts but also stories behind the Facts and the code by which Chuck lives his life.

“For the past three years, I’ve been asked repeatedly to select my favorite Chuck Norris Facts,” said Norris, a TV and film actor who has starred in more than 20 films and is well-known for his popular television series Walker, Texas Ranger. “For three years, people from everywhere have inquired in person and by mail about what I think about particular Chuck Norris Facts. For three years, I’ve been solicited to write this manuscript. So, finally, I’m happy to offer the world The Official Chuck Norris Fact Book, 101 of my favorite Facts, with my personal reflections on each.”

Hundreds of thousands of humorous Chuck Norris Facts have traveled around the globe via the Internet, and they have gained an international audience of millions. You’ve heard the Facts:

  • Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one bird.
  • Chuck Norris doesn’t need a weapon. He is one.
  • When Chuck Norris does push-ups, he isn’t pushing himself up. He’s pushing the earth down.

In addition to the Facts, each entry includes an example of “Chuck’s Code,” the five core values that summarize his life’s purpose. They are represented by five Fs: Freedom, Family, Fitness, Faith, and Fight.

Promotion for The Official Chuck Norris Fact Book will include a comprehensive marketing campaign and a national media tour.Said Jon Farrar, Tyndale Acquisitions Director, “The facts themselves will be humorous, but he will have basically a 250-word commentary on each fact. He talks about his movie career and different things that have happened to him in his life. He’ll take the humor as a jumping-off point.”

In addition to his acting career, Chuck Norris is also a martial arts icon and a best-selling author of numerous books, including Black Belt Patriotism and the autobiographical Against All Odds: My Story. Norris’s nationally syndicated column appears in Human Events, Townhall, and WorldNetDaily, among other outlets. Game Plan for Life to Debut on New York Times Best Sellers List

Joe Gibbs’s book will debut at No. 6 on the New York Times “Advice, How-To & Misc.” list

Carol Stream, Ill.—Game Plan for Life: Your Personal Playbook for Success, the July 21 release by NFL Hall of Famer Joe Gibbs with Jerry B. Jenkins, will debut at No. 6 on the New York Times hardcover nonfiction list on Sunday, August 9. In Game Plan for Life, Coach Gibbs shares the principles that have guided him to success in every area of his life and explains how you can make those same principles work for you.

During his research for Game Plan for Life, Gibbs commissioned a national public opinion research firm to survey men and find out what they are most concerned about and where they’d like to have success in their lives. This survey revealed 11 areas of prime concern, ranging from health to finances to relationships to overcoming sin. These topics make up the Game Plan for Life. Coach Gibbs developed a team of top experts to address these topics so that the “average Joe” can find meaning in them. Those experts are Ron Blue (Finances), Dr. Walt Larimore (Health), Don Meredith (Relationships), Dr. Os Guinness (Vocation), Josh McDowell (The Bible), Dr. Ken Boa (God), Dr. John Lennox (Creation), Ravi Zacharias (Sin and Addiction), Chuck Colson (Salvation), Dr. Tony Evans (Purpose), and Randy Alcorn (Heaven).

As the three-time Super Bowl–winning head coach of the Washington Redskins and owner of a three-time NASCAR championship team with more than 430 employees and several major corporate partners, Gibbs has seen his share of success. He is often asked to share his experiences and keys to winning. As a man of strong Christian convictions, Coach Gibbs believes success starts with knowing who is the head coach (God), what is His playbook for life (the Bible), and how the winning strategies outlined in the Bible will help us live successfully today.

Gibbs’s Game Plan for Life marks the sixth sports-related title published by Tyndale that has earned a spot on the prestigious New York Times Best Sellers List in the past two years—an impressive feat considering that the Times does not poll Christian booksellers as part of its ranking methodology. Game Plan for Life joins the list of successful titles that includes Brenda and Kurt Warner’s First Things First (July 2009), Tony Dungy’s Uncommon (February 2009), Ohio State head football coach Jim Tressel’s The Winners Manual (July 2008), Deanna Favre’s Don’t Bet Against Me! (October 2007), and Tony Dungy’s Quiet Strength (July 2007). Quiet Strength spent more than 30 weeks on the Times list and has sold more than one million copies. The Quiet Strength softcover edition has also spent a number of weeks on the list.

Game Plan for Life was buoyed by a comprehensive media campaign and book-signing tour that included a total of eight book signings in New Jersey; Indianapolis; Charlotte; Washington, D.C.; and Virginia. Gibbs also appeared on FOX News’s Hannity and FOX & Friends; on radio shows with ESPN’s “Mike & Mike” and with Mark Levin, Dan Patrick, Mike Gallagher, Janet Parshall, and G. Gordon Liddy, among others; and in print interviews with USA Today, the Washington Times, and the Washington Post. In all, Gibbs has conducted more than 75 electronic and print interviews. He also spent a day at ESPN in Bristol, Connecticut, to promote the book.
